BACKGROUND
About Juniper by IMC
Juniper is a fully integrated, omni-channel B2B commerce solution, helping buyers & sellers grow their business. IMC provides the only omni-channel business platform that seamlessly connects physical and digital wholesale commerce.
Team Members
I collaborated with a project manager, various developers, a QA specialist, a UX specialist, two design managers, and product stakeholders.
*As of July 2023, they rebranded as “Andmore”
Challenge
In mid-2022, Juniper decided to invest in a phone application that would allow customers to keep track of their visited vendors and products at market. We were also asked to deliver this app by January 2023. Because we were working in an AGILE setting, I needed to hand-off one or two high-fidelity prototypes to the development team every two weeks.
Solution
Collaboration, defining designs, and research were key to this project:
Working with the PM and design managers to create the best user flows while empathizing with users & developers
Correct feasibility and accessibility issues with developers & the QA specialist
Design a beautiful design system that is cohesive with the Juniper branding

RESEARCH
Insights
The customer for the “@market app” is a person with their own business, whether it be e-commerce or brick-and-mortar. They want to be able to gather information about products they like from the physical markets they visit. These users are going to collect a lot of information within a small period of time; they are going to visit a dozen or so vendors within one or two days of a market and take dozens of images/product scans during this time.
Cluster Topics
It can be nearly impossible to keep track of market activity. The @market app must be designed to do exactly that, including a map
Scanning barcodes and QR codes is an intuitive way to guide customers to their favorite vendor’s pages on JuniperMarket.com
An in-app camera that automagically saves images to the respective vendor’s album is vital

DEFINITION
Ideation
The process of evaluating the user flow and creating low to mid-fidelity mockups (coming soon) with internal teams and stakeholders took about four weeks to complete. We also started setting up test cases and booking time with potential users so we could further conduct research.
I began developing the style guide in accordance to Juniper colors and established themes. The app needed to be very organized and easy to navigate for our older user base.

DELIVERY
Implementation
Each of the components in this app took careful consideration from all team members. Even with final hi-fi designs, some were moved into post-MVP because of the timeframe we had to complete the project.
That being said, we did have enough time to test our preliminary prototype with a handful of customers at market. Overall, the customers were very happy with the app, and kept asking how soon they could download it! Our biggest complaint was the font size for a button within the camera feature, so we updated that.
Scan & Snap
Our “Scan & Snap” feature was our primary, and perhaps most important, feature in this project. Here, a user is able to select or scan into a showroom/vendor, then scan products or take photos which are then saved into said showroom’s Brand Details page. A user is able to access their market activity from the market landing page, the directory, a quick search, or from the floor maps.
Now available in the App Store!
